How do I become an NCGA Member?
Membership in the NCGA is arranged through a golf club. There are many different kinds of golf clubs: public; private; associate (groups of people such as co-workers or friends); and eClubs. You can learn more about these clubs at the NCGA membership page. The most economical option you have is joining the NCGA Youth on Course program. You should join a club as soon as possible so that you can post at least three 18-hole scores and get a handicap.
-
What are the age qualifications to participate in the NCGA JUNIORS events?
Be between 9-18 years old by tournament day – (players under 9 can request exemption).
-
How are tournaments organized?
Tournaments are generally 18 holes for one day, apart from a few two-day events with 18 holes played per day. When the course has a driving range, range balls are also included. Lunches may be provided at selected events.
-
How are flights decided?
NCGA Junior events are for girls who have Handicap Indexes of 6.1 or higher or boys with indexes of 4.1 or higher Your Handicap Index at the time of the last day of registration will determine if you are eligible to play. If it changes before the tournament, you will not be moved into the active field.
-
What does it cost?
The average cost is $100 for single day events and $175 for two day events. However, in some cases the tournament fee may vary depending on venue. The tournament fee includes golf and range balls.
-
How do I sign up for tournaments?
Please register for a NCGA Membership through Youth On Course. Once you have created your account, you will get an e-mail that confirms things are setup. After that, please go to our Tournaments tab and select Schedule & Registration. This will take to the tournament calendar. You will see a list of tournaments. Any tournament that is open will say Register Now. Registration will open at 8:00 am on the specified dates.
-
I missed the registration window can I still register?
Late Registrations may be accepted if the field has room. Depending on the circumstances there may be a 50% late registration penalty.
-
How is the field selected for a tournament?
All players will be put on a waitlist once registration opens. Players will be given 48 hours to register for the event before we will fill to three quarter capacity by lot. Additionally some spots remaining may be filled at a player’s request if they have been on the waiting list for other prior events and not gotten in. To be honored this request needs to come prior to the remaining spots in the tournament be filled. Once this request has been granted the player will not be able to use this “exception” again, as they will have now gotten into at least one tournament. In general the field is set by pulling players off of the waitlist by random draw. This makes the registration process fair to all player.
-
I’m on the waiting list, how can I find out my status?
Wait lists are managed independently for each flight. Please contact the NCGA offices to find out what spot you are on the waitlist.
If a player from your flight withdraws and you are the first person on the wait list for that flight, you will be automatically moved into the tournament.
-
How do I withdraw from a tournament? What is the refund policy?
If you need to withdraw from a tournament you may withdraw online in advance of the tournament. Failure withdraw yourself or to notify the NCGA Offices will cause the player to be listed as a NO SHOW, resulting in a ONE YEAR SUSPENSION FROM ALL NCGA EVENTS FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR FOLLOWING THE INFRACTION.
Please understand that if you are on our waiting list and are no longer available to play, we expect you to manage your spot and take yourself off of the list. If we get to your name on the waitlist, we assume you want to play and you will be moved into the event and your card will be charged. Our standard refund policy will then apply.
Refunds: Refund less $10.00 if requested prior to the registration closing date. 50% refund if withdrawal is after the registration closing date, but before two business days of the tournament. No refunds within two business days of the tournament.
-
Do NCGA JUNIORS events contribute to the overall points program of JTNC?
No. We discourage JTNC members from playing in NCGA JUNIORS events because these events are not included in the points program.
-
Are players allowed a caddy?
Caddies are prohibited at any Junior event. If a person other than the player moves their bag/cart in a “casual act” the Rules of Golf do not consider this individual to be a caddie. There is no breach of Rule 10.3. However, this does not allow an individual to move the players bag/cart for a prolonged period of time.
