NCGA Foundation

The NCGA Foundation's purpose is to support youth golf as well as other growth of the game initiatives aimed at making golf accessible to all by welcoming, supporting and engaging new communities.

About NCGA Foundation

In addition to honoring golf’s rich history, the NCGA Foundation champions programs that build a stronger future for the game - supporting youth, underserved communities, and other golf organizations united around shared goals.

We invest in junior development, including the Junior Tour of Northern California, provide grants to impactful programs that foster growth and inclusion, and celebrate the volunteers who help the game thrive. And the NCGA continues to support Youth on Course.

Mission & Vision

The NCGA’s mission is to inspire all to enjoy the benefits of golf by providing innovative programs and services.

The NCGA embraces diversity and celebrates inclusivity

As one of the largest Allied Golf Associations in the U.S, the NCGA has among the most diverse membership in the nation. Our members include over 185,000 adult players who enjoy the game. We also have a diverse group of 23,000 young people — the future of golf — who enjoy affordable games in partnership with Youth on Course facilities.

We know where golf has historically been and we know where it must go — toward a future grounded in diversity, respect, and inclusion. We reject racism and injustice. The NCGA is committed to our vision of ensuring golf is accessible and welcoming to all ages and identities, and all racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds.

We are proud of the diversity we see across our clubs. However, there is always more we can do to encourage inclusivity in the game we love. Though we don’t have all the answers today, we are diligently working on initiatives to help clubs and members find a welcoming golfing community.

Golf has enriched my life significantly. I hope that active involvement in the NCGA and Youth on Course will afford opportunities to help other people, especially young people, have that same positive golf experience in their lives.

Favorite golf memory

Hard to pick just one, but playing Royal Dornoch on a beautiful day with my 13-year-old son, Brendan, was great.

Favorite golf memory

With my late wife Marta on our first trip to Scotland, playing St. Andrews (Old) in the morning, playing Carnoustie in the late afternoon, and realizing on the 18th tee I had the same ball in my hand that I started with, and didn’t lose it on 18 (avoiding the Barry Burn). Penalty-free 36 holes; I still have that ball!

The opportunity to collaborate with such an amazing, talented, and committed group of people for NCGA’s common purpose of improving the game of golf, especially for women and youth.

Favorite golf memory

Of all my great memories, the most important has been how much the game positively reshaped my perspective on life. I am a kinder and gentler person to myself. I’m much more successful at handling challenges that stretch my mental toughness both on and off the golf course.
