Investing in Golf's Future
Beginning in 2025, the NCGA is launching a golf team (Team Northern California) that will expand the pipeline for elite local golfers into the recently created U.S. National Development Program (USNDP), a new initiative launched by the United States Golf Association (USGA). Southern California started their program in 2024.

About USNDP
The U.S. National Development Program is the United States' first national development program to provide a clear and unified pathway for the country's top players, beginning with competitive junior golf through to the pinnacles of the sport. The U.S. National Development Program will identify, train, develop, fund and support the nation’s most talented junior players - regardless of cultural, geographical or financial background.

Who will be on Team Northern California?
The Team Northern California Committee will name 10 boys and 10 girls to Team Northern California in 2025. Athletes earn their way onto the team through outstanding competitive performance during the 2025 season. See Points Distribution information.

Do you need to be a California resident to be part of Team Northern California?
Yes, players need to be Northern California residents.

How old do you need to be to be part of Team Northern California?
Players must be 13 years old by Jan. 1, 2026, have not reached their 19th birthday by July 19, 2026, and must not be enrolled in college for the 2025-2026 school year.

Are there any other requirements to be on Team Northern California?
Players must have an established Handicap Index® and enter all eligible scores to be

When will Team Northern California start?
Team Northern California will be named in late 2025. Team members will participate in Team Northern California programming and benefits in 2026. Players must earn their way onto the team each year.

What are the benefits of being on Team Northern California?
Once an athlete commits to Team Northern California, they can expect to receive team gear, invitations to state camps at elite facilities, Junior Americas Cup team eligibility and selection, support and mentorship from the Team Northern California staff and access to other resources as needed.

If an athlete is part of Team Northern California, are they automatically a part of the USNDP?
Yes! Once named to Team Northern California, athletes are a part of the USNDP for the following calendar year. The USNDP will provide benefits and recognition to Team Northern California participants. These benefits may include recognition on the USGA/USNDP website and social media, expedited USNDP grant program access, exemptions to local AJGA events, invites to future USNDP camps and access to the official USNDP statistical platform. As part of Team Northern California, are players automatically on the National Junior Team?
No. The National Junior Team will be for a select and relatively small number of athletes compared to the number of athletes on State Teams.

If a player is selected to the National Junior Team, are they eligible to also be on Team Northern California?
No, members of the National Junior team are not eligible to be on the state team.
