Junior Girls Grant Program
In 2002, the PWGA and the WGANC came together to support junior girls in golf by creating the Junior Girls Golf Grant Program. Almost $400,000 has since gone to support various local initiatives. The NCGA continues this program to further support and promote women’s golf at the junior level through a partnership with Youth On Course.
In 2021, the Junior Girls Golf Program awarded 55 grants of up to $1,000. Funding for the program comes through generous donations from individual members, member clubs and a $30,000 matching grant from Youth on Course. These funds make a huge difference for the grant recipients.
Most of the applications come from high school golf teams, who use the funds for equipment, uniforms, transportation, access to practice facilities and green fees. At the high school level, many girls’ golf programs do not receive any funding through the school and rely on parent contributions or fundraising efforts by the team. Some programs struggle to fund even the most basic needs, and are often using equipment handed down from the boys team and uniforms shared season after season.
Hearing from the grant recipients certainly brings home the importance of these funds and the impact they have on the girls who wish to play this sport. Learn More about the 2021 Impact Here.
“Thank you so much for the generous contribution to the Lemoore High School Girls Golf Team for $1000, which they were excited to hear about. The financial assistance the NCGA and YOC provided will be a great help in paying for expenses these young ladies incur during their golf league season. We extend our sincere gratitude to the legacy of the PWGA, NCGA and Youth on Course for the continued support of Girls High School Golf funding through your grant making activity. “

“I want to thank you for the generous grant given to my team at Whitney High School in Rocklin, California. We are so excited to be given this grant money which will enable the girls to participate and give them the opportunity to purchase much needed items. It is through organizations such as NCGA, with subcommittees of the PWGA and the WGANC that understand the need to fund girls golf programs throughout Northern California. It is only through this understanding and financial commitment that girls golf programs are able to thrive and flourish. Your continued commitment to fund girls’ athletic programs sends a very strong message to young ladies everywhere and that message is that you care and that girls athletics are indeed important. Thank you once again!”
