Still only 14 years old, Leigh Chien was the champion at the California Women’s Championship.
Chien, a Southern California Golf Association junior member, carded a final round 5-under 66 en route to running away with a seven-shot victory over the field. Chien, who posted a 72 and 67 in the first and second rounds, respectively, finished the event with a 54-hole total of 8-under 205.
Over her last two rounds, Chien posted 12 birdies and an eagle to go against just five bogeys.
Second place went to 2020 NCGA Junior champion Madelyn Gamble at 212 after a final round 68.
Senior Women’s Championship
Rocklin resident Lynne Cowan took home yet another title. Cowan, an NCGA Hall of Famer, shot a final round 4-over 75 to come in at 225, defeating runner-up Pat Cornett by four shots.
In the first and second rounds, Cowan shot 73 and 77, respectively.
Cornett, a former USA Curtis Cup Team Captain, had rounds of 72-80-77 for a three-day total of 229.
