2019 NCGA Annual Meeting
Michael Weeks was officially named the 93rd President of the Northern California Golf Association at Thursday’s NCGA Annual Meeting at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach.
Other board members for the 2019 NCGA golf season were also confirmed at the meeting.
Weeks, a member at Morro Bay Golf Course in Morro Bay, has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2012. Weeks, whose wife is Jean, got his Masters at North Texas State.
“I’m looking forward to the year,” Weeks said. “I think we’ll have fun.”
Weeks succeeds Gail Rogers, a member at Pasatiempo GC who was the first female president in NCGA history. Also seated were Vice President Bob Goldstein (eighth year) and Secretary/Treasurer Gary Fox (seventh year).
Current NCGA Board members that were re-nominated for 2020 were Dr. Alfred Brown of Rancho Murieta CC (third year), Raymond Coates of California GC (fifth year), Terry Fitzwater of Old Greenwood GC (fifth year), Scott Gebhardt of Quail Lodge Resort (fifth year), David Pearson of Visalia CC (sixth year), Kevin Peyton of San Jose CC (third year), Edward Quinn of North Ridge CC (fourth year), and Richard Wise of Granite Bay GC (sixth year).
NCGA Board members who are either retiring or have met board term limits are Stacey Baba, Tom Bone and Susan Morse.
Newly elected oncoming Board members are Bill Carle, Preston Pinkney, Cathy Stroh and Lynn Harvey.
Other highlights of the meeting included a report on Youth on Course by Adam Heieck and the presentation of 2018-19 NCGA Player of the Year awards. Winning the titles were Jason Anthony (NCGA Player of the Year), Annika Borrelli (NCGA Women’s Player of the Year), Randy Haag (NCGA Senior Player of the Year), Lynne Cowan (NCGA Senior Women’s Player of the Year) and Chuck Richesin (NCGA Super Senior Player of the Year).
“The core of the NCGA fosters friendships,” Haag said. “All of those that give your time to this organization. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
