Dougherty Valley High of San Ramon made it two in a row.
A year after winning their first NorCal title, the Wildcats repeated, shooting a team score of 11-over 371 at par-72 El Macero CC to squeak by runner-up Granite Bay by one shot. Both Dougherty Valley and Granite Bay and third place finisher Palo Alto earned spots into the CIF Girls’ State High School Championship, to be held Nov. 19 at Poppy Hills GC.
Dougherty Valley was paced by a 72 from Jacqueline Ha and a 73 by Stella Lin. Other Wildcats scores (best 5-out-of-6) were Danielle Suh (75), Emily Hou (75), Steffi Lin (76) and Melinda Yuan (80).
Granite Bay, still in search of it’s first NorCal title, was led by a 67 from Ellie Bushnell and a 69 by Anika Varma. Palo Alto (377) got a 72 from Sydney Sung.
The Individual title went to Bushnell, who posted seven birdies to go against just two bogeys. She’d card a 32 on her front-nine.
Overall, nine individuals (not on teams qualifying) advanced to the State finals. Those moving on were Ellie Gordon of Rocklin (69), Madelyn Gamble of Carondelet (69), Meghan Paracuelles of Vista Del Lago (70), Elizabeth Lu of Los Gatos (71), Caris Kim of Los Altos (74), Kaylyn Noh of Rocklin (74), Natalie Vo of Harker (75), Madison Vu of Carondelet (75) and Claire Chen of Harker (75).
