Collaboration Update with WGANC and PWGA
The NCGA continues to work very closely with the Women’s Golf Association of Northern California (WGANC) and the Pacific Women’s Golf Association (PWGA). These two longstanding associations have served women golfers in our region with comprehensive tournaments and events for 112 and 72 years, respectively.
For the past two years we have been working on a potential unification of the associations to combine our efforts for better service to all golfers and clubs in Northern California. A committee composed of leaders of the three associations collectively drafted agreements that will govern the terms of possible unification. WGANC and PWGA have provided their member clubs with synopses of the proposed agreements, and will be submitting the matter for a vote by the clubs in June. If it passes, unification will take effect on January 1, 2020. Unification will have no impact on the current NCGA member benefits, dues structure, or tournaments/events.
To help facilitate the unification process and the continuation of historical PWGA and WGANC events under a newly unified association, NCGA will form a Women’s Golf Committee that will be made up of WGANC and PWGA leaders and volunteers. We are optimistic that by working together we can better serve all our collective golfers and clubs.
The NCGA will continue to keep its membership updated on the unification process. Stay tuned!
