2025 U.S. Amateur to Olympic Club
February 21, 2019
The Northern California golf calendar has added yet another event.
On Thursday, the USGA announced that The Olympic Club will host the 2025 U.S. Amateur Championship. It will mark the 12th USGA championship to be hosted by The Olympic Club.
The course will also host the U.S. Women’s Open in 2021. The club has held three U.S. Amateurs (1958, 1981, 2007). Five U.S. Opens have been held at The Olympic Club, including Jack Fleck’s three-stroke playoff victory over Ben Hogan in 1955 and Billy Casper’s four-stroke playoff win over Arnold Palmer in 1966. Webb Simpson (2012), Lee Janzen (1998) and Scott Simpson (1987) each produced come-from-behind victories.
“It’s an honor to always be known as a United States Amateur champion, one of the most prestigious titles in our great game,” said Colt Knost, who defeated Michael Thompson, 2 and 1, to claim the 2007 championship. “To win at The Olympic Club was a dream come true. It is truly a special golf course with a great history and membership.”
Other big events to be held in NorCal in 2025 are the Walker Cup (Cypress Point Club) and Presidents Cup (TPC Harding Park).
