Maximillian Morris, who formerly played at Santa Rosa Junior College and Riley Bell, a sophomore at Sacramento State, are headed to this year’s U.S. Amateur Championship.
Morris was medalist in Monday’s 36-hole qualifier held at Rancho Murieta CC, shooting a 36-hole score of 3-under 139. Morris shot 70 in the first round and followed that with a 69.
Bell had rounds of 69-71.
The first alternate spot went to Mike O’Donnell of Chico at 141 (72-69). The second alternate is Eric Olsem of Sacramento, who’d also come in at 141.
This year’s U.S. Amateur will tee off August 11-18 at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina.
