Dormann Medalist at U.S. Senior Women’s Open Qualifier
Pro Dana Dormann of Pleasanton punched her ticket to the inaugural U.S. Senior Women’s Open, carding a 3-under 68 in a qualifier held Tuesday at par-71 The Olympic Club (Ocean Course).
The field was the second largest Sectional qualifier in the nation for the Senior Women’s Open. Only Florida had a bigger field.
Finishing in second place and also advancing to the championship proper were pros Suzy Whaley and Kathryn Imrie, who each shot 73. Amateurs Tina Barker (77) of Fairfield and Julie Wirth of Lafayette (78) rounded out the automatic qualifiers.
Barker won the California Senior Women’s Amateur in both 2010 and 2011. This year’s U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championship, the inaugural event, will tee off July 12-15 at Chicago Golf Club.
