Mika Jin and Ashely Shim, both members of the Junior Tour of Northern California, are headed to this year’s U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship at El Caballero Country Club in Tarzana.
The duo shot a medalist-earning 3-under 69 in an 18-hole qualifier held Monday at Lake Merced GC in Daly City. Jin and Shim carded six birdies to go against three bogeys.
Three other tandems also advanced: the teams of Briana Chacon and Ty Akabane (70), Lynne Cowan and Kelly Wilson (71) and Katherine Zhu and Angela Liu. Akabane, Zhu and Liu are also JTNC members.
Cowan is the two-time defending NCGA Senior Women’s Player of the year.
The first and second alternate spots went to the teams of Vanessa Wang/Michelle Wong (73) and Neeve Chen and Sienna Lyford (74), respectively.
This year’s U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship will tee off April 28-May 2.
