Poppy Hills Golf Course
Tom Bone of Gold River was officially named the 91st President of the Northern California Golf Association at Friday’s NCGA Annual Meeting at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach.
Other board members for the 2018 NCGA golf season were also confirmed at the meeting.
Bone, a member at North Ridge Country Club, has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2010. Bone and his wife Carol have two daughters—Tracy and Haley.
“I have a great deal of gratitude for the all I’ve experienced with the great game of golf,” Bone said.
He succeeds Pat Quinn, a member at San Jose CC. Also seated were Vice President Gail Rogers (eighth year) and Secretary/Treasurer Michael Weeks (seventh year).
Current NCGA Board members that were re-nominated for 2017 were Stacey Baba of EWGA San Francisco Bay Area (fifth year), Raymond Coates of California GC (third year), John Dodsworth of Palo Alto Hills (sixth year), Terry Fitzwater of Old Greenwood GC (third year), Gary Fox of Spring Creek G&CC (fifth year), Scott Gebhardt of Quail Lodge Resort (third year), Robert Goldstein of Sequoyah CC (sixth year), Sam Gross of The Bridges GC (fourth year), Susan Morse of The Olympic Club (fifth year), David Pearson of Visalia CC (fourth year), Edward Quinn of North Ridge CC (second year), Jay Silverberg of Foxtail GC (second year) and Richard Wise of Granite Bay GC (fourth year).
NCGA Board members who are either retiring or have met board term limits are former President John Ronca.
Newly elected oncoming Board members are Dr. Alfred Brown of Rancho Murieta CC and Kevin Peyton of San Jose CC.
During the meeting, it was announced that NCGA Executive Director Joe Huston will become CEO of the organization beginning Jan.1.
Huston recognized past presidents John Ronca and Quinn for their efforts.
“Pat helped keep us on the theme of being better together,” Huston said.
Others addressing the audience were Northern California PGA interim Executive Director Nancy Maul, Southern California Golf Association Executive Director Kevin Heaney, United States Golf Association Regional Affairs Director (West Region) Mike Sweeney and Nancy Boggs of the Pacific Women’s Golf Association.
The NCGA also recognized its 2017 Players of the Year: Jason Anthony (Player of the Year), Sabrina Iqbal (Women’s Player of the Year), Randy Haag (Senior Player of the Year), Lynne Cowan (Senior Women’s Player of the Year) and Gary Vanier (Super Senior Player of the Year).
Prior to the meeting, a moment of silence was held in memory of former NCPGA Executive Chris Thomas and Pebble Beach Co. Executive Vice President of Golf and Retail RJ Harper.
