Redwood Shores resident Lucy Li is headed back to the U.S. Women’s Open.
Li and Hawaii’s Allisen Corpuz were co-medalists in Monday’s 36-hole Sectional qualifier at par-72 Contra Costa CC. Still only 15 years old, Li. who shot back-to-back rounds of 70 to come in at 140, became a household name in 2014, when she became the youngest ever to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open at 11 years, 8 months and 19 days old.
Corpuz, who shot 69-71, is a sophomore at USC.
The first alternate spot went to amateur Jennifer Chang at 141 (68-73). The second alternate spot went to former U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links champ Mina Harigae at 144 (72-72).
This year’s U.S. Women’s Open will tee off May 31-June 3 at Shoal Creek G&CC in Alabama..
