Menlo CC took the title at the annual San Francisco Bay Zone Championship.
Menlo CC shot a final round 16-under 126 Friday at par-71 Poppy Hills GC to come in at 26-under 256, defeating runner-up Palo Alto GC by two shots. The Menlo squad, made up of teammates Stanley Lent, Reed Payne, Dean Riskas and Kyle Robinson, posted four eagles and six birdies to go against zero bogeys playing in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team.
Palo Alto GC, made up of teammates Darein Arends, Keith Arends, Ray Coler and Buzz Olgren, posted a final round 124 to finish at 258.
Third place went to TPC Harding Park at 259. Both Menlo CC and Palo Alto GC earned automatic spots into this year’s NCGA Zone Championship, slated for August 27-28 at Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill.

Lincoln Park GC took the lead in the annual San Francisco Bay Zone Championship, posting a 12-under 128 Thursday at par-70 Carmel Valley Ranch.
The Lincoln Park GC squad, made up of teammates Mike Franzago, Drew Walker, Naoto De Silva and John Jackson, posted four eagles and five birdies to go against just one bogey playing in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team.
Both Half Moon Bay and Menlo CC are tied for second place at 10-under 130. Also in the hunt is TPC Harding Park at 131.
Friday’s final round will see play shift over to par-71 Poppy Hills GC. Only the low two teams will advance to this year’s NCGA Zone Championship, slated for August 27-28 at Poppy Hills and Spyglass HIll.
