Vallejo GC made a dramatic comeback to take the title on a foggy morning at the annual NCGA Northeast Bay Zone Championship.
Teammates Ryan Rosendall, Eddie Pereira, Alex Kondylis and Randy Tsutsui from Vallejo GC put together a blistering 22-under 120 at par-71 Poppy Hills for a 33-under 249 tournament total. Their round was highlighted by a 4-under start on the tenth hole after Rosendall made a net ace and Kondylis made a net birdie. The rest of their scorecard included two double-eagles, four eagles, six birdies and two bogeys playing in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team.
Buchanan Fields GC shot a final round 14-under 128, for a total of 25-under 257 to finish in second place. Teammates Carl Thoreson, William Sullivan, Mark Hoag and Geoff Goselin had five eagles, six birdies and two bogeys on the final day. Both Vallejo GC and Buchanan Fields GC earned automatic spots into this year’s NCGA Zone Championship, slated for August 27-28 at Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill.
Contra Costa CC finished in third place after a 15-under 127.

It’s a packed leader-board after day one of the annual NCGA Northeast Bay Zone Championship.
Rancho Solano GC and Berkeley CC shot identical rounds of 15-under 125 at par-70 Carmel Valley Ranch.
Rancho Solano GC, made up of teammates Andrew Mullins, Frank Scholl, Micheal Larsen and John Scholl, had four eagles, nine birdies and two bogeys on their card.
The Berkeley CC squad, including Javier Delagarza, Scott Fong, Bill Saner and Sam Chang, posted two double-eagles, one eagle, eight birdies along with one bogey.
Diablo Hills GC, Buchanan Fields GC and Vallejo GC are tied for third after rounds of 11-under 129.
Only the two low teams will earn automatic spots into this year’s NCGA Zone Championship, slated for August 27-28 at Spyglass Hill and Poppy Hills. Friday’s final round will see play shift over to par-71 Poppy Hills.
