Monterey Peninsula Foundation Donates Record $12.8 million to Non-Profits
Monterey Peninsula Foundation, host of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the PURE Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach Golf Links and Poppy Hills Golf Course, donated $12.8 million to charities this year surpassing last year’s record total of $10.8 million. Grants awarded to non-profit organizations throughout Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito counties benefited arts and culture, community and environment, health and human services and youth.
“This year, we’ve given more than 160 grants to local nonprofits in donations ranging from $500 to $500,000,” said Steve John, Tournament Director and CEO. “It’s incredible how four days of golf changes thousands of lives right here on the Monterey Peninsula.”
Since 1982, Monterey Peninsula Foundation has donated over $135 million dollars, making AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am one of the leading charitable events on the PGA TOUR.
According to Monterey Peninsula Foundation Chairman of the Board, Clint Eastwood, “The record breaking figures are due to the tremendous work and commitment from our volunteers, players, sponsors and tournament courses: Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course, and Monterey Peninsula Country Club.”
Among the beneficiaries of this year’s largest charitable contributions include First 5 Monterey County, Hollister Youth Alliance, and Cabrillo College.
