Scott Adams, a PGA class ‘A’ member since 2006, has been named the new head professional at Poppy Hills.
Adams, who assumed his duties earlier this month, previously was the head professional at San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister and CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin.
“We’re thrilled to have Scott on board our team,” Poppy Hills general manager Brad Shupe said. “He brings an amazing skill set and passion for the game.”
A PGA class ‘A’ member since 2006, Adams also previously served at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz. He comes from a family that has roots in the golf industry. His father, Steve Adams, was the Northern California PGA Golf Professional of the Year at San Joaquin Country Club in 1984.
“My service philosophy is about trying to create a memorable guest experience with each visit,” Adams said. “It’s the best zip code to work in anywhere for golf.”
Cole Handley, who had served as head pro since 2014, is now the Director of Golf Revenue for Poppy Hills and Poppy Ridge.
Poppy Hills currently co-hosts the annual Champions Tour PURE Insurance Open (formerly First Tee Open at Pebble Beach) with Pebble Beach Golf Links each September. The course, which re-opened in 2014 following a complete renovation by architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr., will host the 2018 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship (July 16-21). Poppy Hills is also home of the nationally acclaimed Youth on Course, which allows juniors to play more than 350 courses stretching from California to Georgia for no more than $5.
