Golf great Billy Casper may be gone, but he’s still giving back.
On Monday May 1, Billy Casper Golf, the largest owner-operator of golf courses, country clubs and resorts in the U.S., will host the 7th annual World’s Largest Golf Outing to benefit Arnie’s Army Charitable Foundation and Fisher House Foundation.
The World’s Largest Golf Outing (WLGO) was created in 2011 when Peter Hill, CEO of Billy Casper Golf, envisioned all of the courses in his portfolio holding a golf outing on the same day to make a difference. So, WLGO was born by combining two of the company’s passions – playing golf and giving back.
Since its inception, WLGO has raised over $3.5 million for injured service men and women and their families.
Fisher House Foundation operates 71 comfort homes where military and veteran’s families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment. The mission of Arnie’s Army Charitable Foundation, named after Arnold Palmer, is to invest in the health, well-being and development of children and youth
So how does WLGO work?
All events will be a four person team, 18 hole or 9 hole (depending on course) scramble. Registration fees based on team size (Foursome, Twosome or Single, if applicable) will include a $10 per player charitable donation, green fees, shared cart, warm up bucket (if applicable), lunch (if applicable), local prizes and an awards ceremony following play.
Participating courses in Northern California include Shoreline Golf Links (Mountain View), Poppy Ridge GC in Livermore, Canyon Lakes Golf Club and Brewery (San Ramon), Franklin Canyon GC (Hercules), Hiddenbrooke GC (Vallejo) and Chardonnay GC (American Canyon).
