Recent Bellarmine Preparatory grad Berk Harvey is headed to this year’s U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.
Harvey broke a deadlock of four players, posting a medalist-earning 3-under 67 in an 18-hole qualifier held Monday at Stanford Golf Course. His round included six birdies to go against a double-bogey and a bogey.
Four players–San Jose’s Eddy Lai, Fremont’s Aaron Chen, Max Ting of Atherton and San Francisco’s Josh Lim–all had previously come in with matching scores of 68.
Only four players advanced to the championship proper, so there was a playoff with Lai, Chen and Ting advancing. Lai was medalist at the recent California Amateur at the Olympic Club.
Lim is the first alternate. The second alternate is Alexander Chin (69).
This year’s U.S. Junior Amateur will tee off July 17-22 at Flint Hills National GC in Kansas.
