Defending champion Sabrina Iqbal is off and running again at the annual San Francisco City Women’s Championship at TPC Harding Park.
Iqbal, who hails from San Jose, first earned the No.1 seed by posting a 4-under 68. She’d be the only player to break par.
In her first round match, the 2016 NCGA Women’s Player of the Year would defeat her opponent, 6 and 4. Last year, Iqbal cruised all the way to an eventual 11 and 9 win in the 36-hole championship finale.
The remaining Top Four seeds–No.2 Carissa Wu, No.3 Jacqueline Hucena and No.4 Angela Bagasbas—all lost their first round matches.
