The final four is all set at the annual San Francisco City Senior Championship at TPC Harding Park.
In one semifinal, to be held Saturday, No.1 seed Gary Vanier will take on No.20 Bob Burnett, while in the other it’ll be No.26 Rich Rowley squaring off against No.22 Jeff Britton.
Vanier, a three-time winner of the Senior title, advanced with a 2 and 1 win over No.25 John Donnelly in Wednesday’s quarterfinals. Burnett, on the other hand, knocked out No. 28 Steve Donnelly via a 2 and 1 victory.
Rowley pulled off the big upset in the Round of 16, ousting defending champion and No.2 seed Randy Haag, 5 and 4. Britton punched his ticket to the semis by defeating No.30 Ray King on the 20th hole.
Over in the Super Senior Championship, the semifinals will see No.7 Mark Miller taking on No.3 Tom O’Grady and No.8 Ron Johnson taking on No.12 Jack Bieber. Miller entered the event leading in the race for NCGA Super Senior Player of the Year honors.
