Bobby Bucey and Brett Viboch got that feeling again. Bucey and Viboch, winners of the 2016 NCGA Four-Ball Championship, punched their tickets to the 2018 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship after carding a medalist-earning 9-under 62 in a qualifier held Monday at par-71 Del Paso CC in Sacramento.
The duo, who carded a record-tying 62 in winning the NCGA Four-Ball title, posted seven birdies and an eagle, which came courtesy of a hole-out from Bucey on the 18th.
Also advancing to the championship proper was the tandem of Jesse Galvon and Domingo Jojola. Galvon and Jojola had a 64 and defeated Luke Adams and Ethan Ashbrook in a playoff. Adams and Ashbrook are the first alternates.
The second alternate spot went to Daniel Connolly and partner Ryan Johnson (65). Connolly won this year’s NCGA Stroke Play Championship.
The 2018 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship will tee off May 19-23 at Jupiter Hills Club in Florida.
