Oakhurst CC came through when it counted the most.
Oakhurst CC shot a final round 9-under 133 at par-71 Quail Lodge Resort to capture the annual NCGA Northeast Bay Zone title. The Oakhurst CC squad–made up of teammates Michael Han, Todd Dorman, Al Aragon and Darrel Yasutake—posted five eagles and four birdies to go against three bogeys and a double-bogey playing in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team.
Figuring out second place wasn’t so easy, as three teams–Rancho Solano GC, Chardonnay GC and Vallejo GC—all finished tied at 264. Vallejo GC emerged the winner of the three-for-one playoff with a victory on the first hole.
Both champion Oakhurst CC, and runner-up Vallejo GC, earned automatic spots into this year’s NCGA Zone Championship, slated for August 28-29 at Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill.

Mira Vista G&CC is on top, but they don’t have a lot of breathing room.

The Mira Vista squad—made up of teammates Lou Buty, Rich Pon, Paul Brown and Lance Clark—posted three eagles and five birdies to go against just one bogey playing in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team.
Oakhurst CC is alone in second place at 129. The Oakhurst squad–made up of teammates Michael Han, Todd Dorman, Al Aragon and Darrel Yasutake–carded four eagles and six birdies to go against a lone bogey.
Walnut Creek GC is just two behind the leaders after a 130. Delta View GC is also right in it at 131.
The low two teams following Friday’s second round will advance to this year’s NCGA Zone Championship, slated for August 28-29 at Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill.
Friday’s second round will see play shift over to Quail Lodge Resort in Carmel Valley.
