Getting a chance to play in this year’s U.S. Open at Chambers Bay. That’ll be the goal for everyone, including a number of players with NCGA connections, at a 36-hole qualifier to be held Monday in Southern California. It’s the only Sectional qualifier to be held in the Golden State.

Stanford sophomore and Junior Tour of Northern California alum Maverick McNealy won the Haskins Award, given to college golf’s best player. McNealy had a brilliant stretch in May, and led the nation in scoring with a 68.70 stroke average. He’s the second straight Cardinal to earn the award, following Patrick Rodgers.
SMU junior and Junior Tour of Northern California alum Bryson DeChambeau won the NCAA Championship Individual title Monday at The Concession GC in Florida. DeChambeau is the first SMU individual to win a national title. In 2011, he was the JTNC Player of the Year.
The former NCGA Junior Tour Player of the Year captured the individual title by one shot.
Fresh off of celebrating a national title, Stanford’s Lauren Kim got more good news. The 2012 NCGA Junior Championship winner received an exemption into July’s LPGA Marathon Classic.
The Stanford Women’s golf team won its first national title on Wednesday, defeating Baylor, 3-2, in a thriller that went to extra holes. Junior Mariah Stackhouse came from three down in the crucial last match, and won with a par on the 19th hole to give the Cardinal the victory.
