Vallejo GC came back to take the title.
Vallejo GC shot a final round 7-under 133 at par-70 Carmel Valley Ranch to win the annual NCGA Northeast Bay Zone Championship.
The Vallejo GC squad, made up of teammates Eddie Pereira, Ryan Rosendall, Rnady Tsutsui and Alex Kondylis, had two eagles and eight birdies to go against a bogey and two double-bogeys in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team. They’d finish the two-day event with a total of 24-under 258.
Claiming second place at 261 following a three-team playoff was Contra Costa CC. The Contra Costa squad, comprised of teammates Mike Lee, Cliff March, Brad Magleby and Chad Blodgett, had a final round 134 featuring three eagles and five birdies.
Both teams advanced to this year’s NCGA Zone Championship, slated for August 29-30 at Spyglass Hill and Poppy Hills.
Losing in the playoff for the final spot were Chardonnay GC and Antioch GC.

There’s a logjam at the top of the leaderboard after day one of the annual NCGA Northeast Bay Zone Championship.
Tied for first place are Buchanan Fields GC and Discovery Bay CC, who each opened with scores of 18-under 1125 a24 Thursday at par-71 Quail Lodge Golf Resort.
Buchanan Fields GC, comprised of teammates Carl Thoreson, Pat McLaughlin, Mark Hoag and Geoff Goselin, had three eagles, 12 birdies and two bogeys in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team.
Discovery Bay CC, made up of teammates Garrett Baxley, Jeff Lienhard, Bob Serbin and Gerald Dillon, posted nine eagles and three birdies to go against a pair of bogeys and a double-bogey.
In a tie for third at 125 are Vallejo GC and Antioch GC. Three squads are T-5 at 127.
Friday’s final round will see play shift over to par-70 Carmel Valley Ranch.
