Seven players are headed to this year’s U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship after advancing through an 18-hole qualifier held Tuesday at par-70 Sequoyah CC in Oakland.
Leading the way was medalist Ingrid Gutierrez of Albuquerque, who came in with a 2-under 68.
Tying for second at 71 was Redwood Shores resident Lucy Li and Yuka Saso of Sta. Rosa Laguna. Finishing T-4 at 72 were Tianyu Wang of Kobe City and San Jose’s Jessica Luo.
Brooke Riley of Manteca was sixth at 73. Seven players tied for the final seventh spot at 75. After four playoff holes, Yealimi Noh of Concord emerged as the final player to earn an automatic spot.
The first alternate is Regina De Guzman of San Jose. The second alternate is Amanjoty Sangha of San Mateo.
This year’s U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship will tee off August 1-7 at Rolling Green GC in Pennsylvania.
