Champions Dragonfly GC
Dragonfly GC ran away with the title at the annual NCGA South Valley Zone Championship.
The Dragonfly GC squad had a final round 21-under 121 at par-71 Quail Lodge Resort to come in at 39-under 243 and defeat runner-up Belmont CC by seven strokes. Dragonfly, made up of teammates Clint Jones, Tim Huber, Eddie Zahariades and Eric Cogdill, had seven eagles and five birdies to go against just two bogeys and a double-bogey in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team.
Belmont CC, comprised of teammates Ramon Benavides, Rusty Riley, Reino Siipola and Ron Simons, shot 124 to finish at 250. The Belmont team posted seven eagles and four birdies to go against two bogeys and a double-bogey.
Both Dragonfly GC and Belmont CC earned automatic spots into this year’s NCGA Zone Championship, slated for Aug. 29-30 at Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill.
Fig Garden GC was third at 252.

Runner-up Belmont CC

Dragongly GC jumped out to the lead at the annual NCGA South Valley Zone Championship, posting an 18-under 122 Thursday at par-70 Carmel Valley Ranch.
The Dragonfly GC squad, made up of teammates Clint Jones, Tim Huber, Eddie Zahariades and Eric Cogdill, had six eagles and six birdies to go against a bogey and one double-bogey in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team.
In second place after a 126 is Belmont CC. The Belmont CC team, comprised of Ramon Benavides, Rusty Riley, Reino Siipola and Ron Simons, carded five eagles and five birdies to go against a bogey and double-bogey.
Fig Garden GC is in third place at 128.
Friday will see play shift over to par-71 Quail Lodge Resort. The two low teams will advance to this year’s NCGA Zone Championship, slated for August 29-30 at Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill.
