San Diego’s Monica Matsubara claimed the title at the annual CWC Championship at par-71 Ojai Valley Inn and Spa.
Matsubara slipped back to a final round 4-over 75, but defeated Andrea Wong of San Francisco in a playoff to claim the crown. Wong, who began the final round six behind Matsubara, made her move with a stellar final round 69. The duo finished regulation tied at 2-over 215.
Third place went to Rocklin’s Lynne Cowan at 218 following a final round 73.

San Diego resident Monica Matsubara took a four shot lead, posting a second round 2-under 69 in Tuesday’s second round of this week’s CWC Women’s Championship at par-71 Ojai Valley Inn and Spa. Matsubara’s two-day total is 140.
In second place at 144 is Pasadena’s Victoria Morgan, who shot 73. Lynne Cowan and Kaley In are T-3 at 145 following rounds of 71 and 72, respectively.

Laguna Niguel resident Joo Seo grabbed the early lead at this year’s CWC Women’s Championship, posting a 1-under 70 in Monday’s first round at par-71 Ojai Valley Inn and Spa.
Seo’s round included three birdies and two bogeys.
Three players–Monica Matsubara, Victoria Morgan and Mina Hardin–are tied for second at 71. Another three players, including Andrea Wong, are T-5 at 73.
Karen Garcia of Cool and Lynne Cowan of Rocklin, who are dueling for NCGA Senior Women’s Player of the Year honors, are T-8 at 74.
Another 18 holes will be played Tuesday, with the final round to be held Wednesday.
