Harding Park went wire-to-wire to capture the annual San Francisco Bay Zone Championship.
Harding Park shot a final round 12-under 128 at par-70 Carmel Valley Ranch to finish at 31-under 251 and defeat runner-up Half Moon Bay by eight strokes.
The Harding Park team, made up of James Smith, Steve Mellinger, Jim Kraft and Bill Selmi, posted four eagles and seven birdies to go against two bogeys and a double-bogey in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team.
Half Moon Bay shot a final round 134 to edge third place finisher Palo Alto GC. The Half Moon Bay squad, made up of teammates James Sorensen, Douglas McKeever, Brett Teele and Dewey Chambers, penciled in three eagles and five birdies to go against three bogeys and a double-bogey in the finale.
Both Harding Park and Half Moon Bay earned spots into this year’s NCGA Zone Championship, slated for August 29-30 at Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill.
