Plumas Lake Golf Club made it a wire-to-wire win.

Plumas Lake GC shot a final round 18-under 122 at par-70 Carmel Valley Ranch to finish at 39-under 243 and win the annual NCGA North Valley Zone Championship by eight strokes.

The Plumas Lake GC squad, made up of teammates Les Noggle, Jesse Martynski, Brian Brooks and Jonathan Wheeler, penciled in three eagles and seven birdie to go against three bogeys in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team.

Placing second at 251 following 127 was Auburn Lake Trails GC. The Auburn Lake Trails team, comprised of Mark Donnan, Don Pangburn, Tom Michul and David Bloodgood, had four eagles and six birdies but also a bogey and double-bogey.

Both Plumas Lake GC and Auburn Lake Trails earned automatic spots into this year’s annual NCGA Zone Championship, slated for August 29-30 at Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill.

Third place went to Arbuckle GC at 256 following a 126.

Plumas Lake Golf Club has found some breathing room at the NCGA North Valley Zone Championship.

Plumas Lake GC fired a flawless, bogey-free  21-under 121 Thursday at par-71 Quail Lodge Resort, good enough to take a three stroke lead after the first round.

The Plumas Lake GC squad, made up of teammates Les Noggle, Jesse Martynski, Brian Brooks and Jonathan Wheeler, posted seven birdies and three eagles in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team.

Alone in second place at 124 is Auburn Lake Trails GC. The Auburn Lake Trails team, comprised of Mark Donnan, Don Pangburn, Tom Michul and David Bloodgood, had four eagles and nine birdies to go with just one bogey.

In third place at 125 is Peach Tree G&CC. Alone in fourth place is Ukiah GC at 126.

Only the two low teams will advance to this year’s NCGA Zone Championship, slated for August 29-30 at Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill. Friday’s final round will see play shift over to par-70 Carmel Valley Ranch.
