Chuck Jett–2015 NCGA Course Rater of the Year
Sometimes, things just work out perfectly.
That was the case for Chuck Jett.
Back in 2000, Jett observed then-NCGA course rater Gary Donat rating a course near his hometown of Twain Harte. Jett was instantly interested in what Donat was doing.
“I asked him (Donat) how I could do it,” Jett recalled. “He got me an application and I sent it in. Turned out, at the time they were short on raters so they brought me in right away.”
A year later in 2001, Jett would begin his services as an NCGA course rater. He was so good at it that in 2009, he was named a course rating captain.
“It’s something I’ve always enjoyed doing,” Jett said. “I love golf. It’s my way of giving back to the golf community.”
While he’s enjoyed every moment, at the end of 2015 Jett will retire to spend more time with his wife, Debbie, who’s a golfer.
“I’m tickled. This is a great way to go out,” said Jett of his award. “I’ve loved every minute of it. I’ll miss it tremendously, especially the camaraderie of rating courses with other raters and course captains.”
