The NCGA Welcomes Joe Huston as its Next Executive Director
Sept. 17, 2015
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – The Northern California Golf Association is delighted to announce Joe Huston as its next executive director. Huston succeeds Vaughn Kezirian, who graciously served as the executive director for the past two years.
“We are extremely happy and fortunate to have Joe onboard as our new executive director,” said Lee Gidney, president of the NCGA. “He has a proven record of successful leadership and management coupled with a deep passion for the game of golf. At the end of the day, the NCGA is committed to serving the golfers of Northern California, and I know that Joe shares that goal and will use his considerable talents to ensure our success.”
Huston joined the NCGA as its director of strategic initiatives in 2014 after a business career in marketing and general management. His previous roles included president of Chiquita Brands and marketing director at Procter & Gamble.
“It is an honor and privilege to have this opportunity to serve the NCGA’s members, clubs, volunteers and outstanding staff,” Huston said. “The NCGA has a rich history of innovation and excellence, and I look forward to working together to build on this foundation, improve member satisfaction, and ultimately, grow the game.”
Huston was the Iowa High School State Golf champion and played for the University of Notre Dame. He graduated in 1993 with a bachelor of arts in economics. Huston is also the vice president of the AT&T Pebble Beach Junior Golf Association. He moved to the area several years ago, and lives in Monterey with his wife Kristen, son Thomas and daughter Anna.
“This is an exciting time at the NCGA full of great energy and promise,” Gidney said. “We would not be at this point without the selfless service and stewardship of Vaughn Kezirian. We are indebted to his leadership through the Poppy Hills renovation, and look forward to his help at our competitions – a role he loves.”
