Three players are headed to this year’s California Amateur Championship after earning spots in a qualifier held Monday at par-71 Butte Creek Golf Club.
Leading the way was Michael Brockington of Laguna Niguel. The SCGA member posted a 4-under 67 that included five birdies and a bogey.
Finishing in second was Chico’s Jeff Fowler, who shot a 72 that featured two birdies and three bogeys.
The final spot came down to a playoff between four players who came in with matching 73’s. Eric Ash of Chico claimed the final automatic berth after winning the playoff.
This year’s California Amateur Championship will tee off June 22-27 at Lake Merced Golf Club in Daly City.
