Evan Knight, a sophomore at UC Davis, emerged as the winner in what turned out to be a crazy finish at the annual Sacramento City Men’s Championship at Haggin Oaks Golf Course.
Playing the MacKenzie Course, Knight and four other players–Seung Maeng, Pedro Oviedo, Nickolas Yell and Scott Raber–finished the regulation 36 holes tied with identical scores of 139.
In a sudden-death playoff, all the players birdied the first hole except for Oviedo. On the second playoff hole (the par-5 2nd), Knight ended the drama, draining a 20-foot putt for eagle from off the fringe.
Blake Abercrombie finished alone in sixth place at 140.
