Cameron Park resident Kelly Wilson and three others are headed to this year’s U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship after advancing through a qualifier held Monday at par-73 Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton.
Wilson was medalist posting a 1-over 74 that featured an opening eagle on the par-5 1st, a birdie, two bogeys and a double-bogey.
Finishing in second at 75 was Rocklin’s Lynne Cowan. Cowan also recently qualified for the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur.
The two other players earning automatic spots were Joy Robinson of Pebble Beach (77) and Melissa Spencer of San Jose (79). Spencer defeated Canada’s Judy Dotten in a playoff to earn the last spot
Dotten is the first alternate, while Jessica Hazlett of Palo Alto is the second alternate after posting an 82.
This year’s U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship will be held Oct. 3-8 at Squire Creek CC in Louisiana.
