Four players earned spots into this year’s U.S. Junior Amateur Championship after playing their way through a 36-hole qualifier held Monday at Stanford University Golf Course.
Leading the way medalist Eddy Lai of San Jose, who came in at 4-under 136 after matching rounds of 68. In May, Lai won the NCGA/CIF Boys’ Championship title at Corral de Tierra CC in Salinas after defeating four other players in a sudden-death playoff.
Finishing tied for second at 138 were Palo Alto resident and the Olympic Club member Ahmed Ali (67-71) and Devondeep Bling of Ridgecrest (67-71).
Claiming the last spot was Logan Lowe of Grass Valley at 139 (71-68).
The first alternate is Mitchell Cornell of Incline Village (140).
This year’s U.S. Junior Amateur Championship will be held July 20-25 at Colleton River Plantation in South Carolina.
