Four players are headed to this year’s U.S. Junior Amateur Championship after advancing through a 36-hole qualifier held Monday at par-72 Yolo Fliers Club in Woodland.
Leading the field was medalist and Roseville resident Joshua Sedeno, who came in at a total of 3-under 141 after posting rounds of 68 and 73. Over his 36 holes, Sedeno carded 10 birdies, five bogeys and one double-bogey. This fall, Sedeno will begin playing at Southern Methodist University, where he’ll join NCAA champion Bryson DeChambeau of Clovis and Austin Smotherman of Loomis.

Coming in second at 142 (72-70) was Bryan Baumgarten of Granite Bay. Baumgarten, a senior at Granite Bay High, posted a total of six birdies and four bogeys.
The last two automatic spots went to San Diego’s Kaiwen Liu and Isaiah Choi of San Ramon, who both came in at even-par 144.
San Ramon’s Louie Chen was first alternate after finishing at 145. Brian Ma of Milpitas, who also shot 145, is the second alternate.
This year’s U.S. Junior Amateur Championship will tee off July 20-25 at Colleton River Plantation in South Carolina.
