Yardages – Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club
July 14, 2015
A trio of players punched their tickets to this year’s U.S. Amateur Championship after advancing through a 36-hole qualifier held Monday at Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club.
San Francisco native Austin Bautista led the way, shooting a medalist earning 9-under 135 with rounds of 68-67. Bautista, who moved to Australia when he was nine, penciled in 14 birdies and five bogeys overall. He’d make his moves on the back-nine, carding a 31 there on his first 18 and a 30 in his second round. Combined, Bautista went 11-under on the back-nine without any bogeys.
Finishing tied for second at 137 and claiming the other two automatic spots were Pleasanton’s Noah Woolsey (68-69) and Alex Franklin of San Rafael (67-70).
The first alternate spot went to San Jose’s Shintaro Ban, who defeated local Scott Mitchell of Santa Rosa in a playoff after they both came in at 138.
This year’s U.S. Amateur Championship will tee off August 17-23 at Olympia Fields CC in Illinois.
