Six players are headed to this year’s California State Amateur Championship after earning berths in a qualifier held Monday at par-70 Cameron Park Golf Club near Folsom.
Hunter Rappleye of Elk Grove claimed medalist honors, posting a solid 3-under 67 that featured five birdies and just two bogeys.
Finishing a stroke behind Rappleye at 68 was San Juan Capistrano resident Owen Taylor.
Brandon Baumgarten of Granite Bay finished T-3 at 69 along with Zachary Solomon of Sacramento. Fellow Sacramento resident and former NCGA Valley Amateur Championship winner Steven Chung took fifth at 70.
The last automatic spot came down to a playoff between three players who shot 71. Joshua Sedeno of Roseville earned the spot in the playoff, defeating Brian Knoll and Taylor Knoll of Cameron Park.
This year’s California State Amateur Championship will tee off June 22-27 at Lake Merced Golf Club in Daly City.
