Just four players were able to break par at Poppy Hills across the three flights of the 22nd Annual NCGA Associate Club Net Amateur Championships, with three of them earning titles.
Chardonnay Flight (9.9 index and below)
Vintage Park’s Eric Jarvis closed with a net even-par 71 to finish at 3-under 139 for a two stroke win. He closed out his final round in style, collecting a net birdie.
NAS GA’s Michael Schwartz was the tough-luck runner-up, shooting 70-71 to finish at 1-under 141. He was the only player in the three flights to finish under par without winning. E-Club East Bay’s Aureliano Mendes and Pinseekers’ Gary Kodani shot matching 73-70-143 to tie for third.
Merlot Flight (10.0-13.9 index)
Eagle Ridge Rewards Club’s Taras Bodrouk rallied with a net 3-under 68 to finish at 73-68-141 and win by two. His 68 included seven net birdies and a net eagle on No. 3.

It looks like determining a champion in each of the three flights at the annual NCGA Associate Club Net Amateur Championship is going to come down to the wire.
Playing at par-71 Poppy Hills Golf Course, in the Chardonnay flight (9.9 handicap index and below) Ancil Hoffman GC member Eric Jarvis took the lead on Monday with a 3-under 68 that included an eagle and five birdies to go against three bogeys and a double-bogey.
Just two strokes behind Jarvis, however, is NAS GA member Michael Schwartz, who posted a 70. Also in the immediate mix is Al Parisi of Pin High Golf Club, who came in with a 71.
Over in the Merlot Flight (10.0-13.9 handicap index), it’s a logjam at the top, as five players–Doyle Knight Jr., Larry Grose, Terry Crow, Todd Hensley and Ashish Gadagkar–finished the first round with matching scores of 71.
Just two strokes behind the leaders are Bank of the West GC member Clint Fredenberg and Eagle Ridge Rewards Club member Taras Bodrouk, who both finished at 73.
Things are also tight in the Zinfandel Flight (14.0-above handicap index). There, Butch Harrison of Golden Bay GC took the first round lead with a 67 that included two eagles and six birdies to go against five bogeys and a double-bogey.
Right behind Harrison at 68 is Jason Sims, and just two behind the leader Joe Solis.
Tuesday’s final round will also be held at Poppy Hills.
