Sherwood Forest Golf Club made it a wire-to-wire win.
Sherwood Forest GC shot a final round 11-under 131, holding off Tulare Golf Course to win the annual NCGA South Valley Zone Championship at par-71 Poppy Hills Golf Course. Both teams advanced to this year’s NCGA Zone Championship, slated for August 24-25 at Spyglass Hill and Poppy Hills.

The Sherwood Forest squad, made up of teammates Ryan Jackson, Ryan McKinney, Frank Sani and Rob Chapman, had five eagles and two birdies to go with three bogeys in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team. In Monday’s first round at par-70 Carmel Valley Ranch, they’d take the lead with a score of 19-under 121.
Tulare GC came back from two strokes to finish in second place. A day after shooting 126 at Carmel Valley Ranch, the Tulare GC squad–comprised of teammates Manuel Costales, Carlos Deochoa, Jesse Rodriguez and Cosmo Costales–shot a day low 13-under 129. The group penciled in four eagles and six birdies to go against just two bogeys.

Both Lemoore GC and Valley Oaks GC finished T-3 at 258 after matching final rounds of 134.
Belmont Country Club, which began the day in second place just a stroke off the lead, fell into a tie for fifth with Fresno Airways GC at 262 after carding a 140.

Sherwood Forest Golf Club grabbed the lead, but there’s still one more day to go.
Sherwood Forest GC shot 19-under 121, taking a one shot lead over Belmont Country Club in Monday’s first round of the annual NCGA South Valley Zone Championship at par-70 Carmel Valley Ranch.
The Sherwood Forest GC squad, made up of teammates Ryan Jackson, Ryan McKinney, Frank Sani and Rob Chapman, posted eight eagles and three birdies with just two bogeys in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team.
Belmont CC, comprised of teammates Cory Brock, Rick Scheidt, Rae Ann Scheidt and Sara Scheidt, penciled in six eagles with seven birdies but also had a double-bogey.
Both Lemoore GC and Valley Oaks GC are tied for third at 124, just three shots behind the leaders. Tulare GC is alone in fifth at 126, just five back.
The two low teams will advance to this year’s NCGA Zone Championship, slated for August 24-25 at Spyglass Hill and Poppy Hills Golf Course.
Tuesday’s final round will see play move over to par-71 Poppy Hills GC.
