Graeagle Meadows GC made it a wire-to-wire victory at the annual NCGA North Sierra Zone Championship
Graeagle Meadows GC fired a final round 8-under 132 Tuesday at par-70 Carmel Valley Ranch to finish at 24-under 258, defeating runner-up McCloud GC by three shots. Both Graeagle Meadows and McCloud GC earned spots into this year’s NCGA Zone Championship, which will be played August 24-25 at Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill.
The Graeagle Meadows GC squad, made up of teammates Norm Miller, Bryan Hansen, George Fraser and Mike Irving, posted four eagles and five birdies to go against three bogeys and a double-bogey in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team .
In Monday’s first round at par-71 Poppy Hills, the team took the lead with a score of 16-under 126.
McCloud GC finished second at 261 following a final round 127. The McCloud squad, comprised of teammates Joe Bambino, James Clark, Bill Michelon and John Gut, penciled in four eagles and five birdies to go against two bogeys.
Placing third at 266 after a final round 134 was Tahoe Donner GC. Fourth place went to Bailey Creek GC at 268 after a final round 139.

Graeagle Meadows Golf Course is trying to run away and hide from the other teams at the annual North Sierra Zone Championship.
Graeagle Meadows shot 16-under 126 in Monday’s first round of the championship at par-71 Poppy Hills Golf Course, taking a commanding three shot lead over the rest of the field.
The Graeagle Meadows squad, made up of teammates Norm Miller, Bryan Hansen, Mike Irving and George Fraser, posted five eagles and seven birdies to go against just two bogeys in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team.
In second place at 129 is Bailey Creek GC. The Bailey Creek squad, comprised of teammates John Peragallo, Bob Brockway, Bob Johnson and Don Robinson, penciled in four eagles and eight birdies to go with two bogeys and a double-bogey.
At six shots behind the leaders after an opening score of 132 is Tahoe Donner GC. In fourth place at 134 is McCloud GC.
The two low teams following Tuesday’s second round will advance to this year’s NCGA Zone Championship, slated for August 24-25 at Spyglass Hill and Poppy Hills.
Tuesday’s second round of the championship will see play shift over to par-71 Poppy Hills.
