Coveted spots in this year’s NCGA Amateur Match Play Championship were on the line at seven qualifiers held at seven different sites on Thursday.
Over at Coyote Creek GC in San Jose, Mayacama GC member Scott Mitchell continued his recent strong play, earning medalist honors with a score of 5-under 67. Overall, 21 spots were awarded in the qualifier at Coyote Creek.
In a qualifier at Del Monte GC in Monterey, Fountaingrove GAC member member came out on top, shooting a 5-under 67 that featured seven birdies and one double-bogey. The Del Monte GC qualifier awarded 25 berths into the championship.
At Dragonfly GC, only six spots were available. There, the medalists were John Andrews of E-Club Fresno and Landon Polterock of Copper River GC, who both came in at 4-under 68.
The qualifier at Haggin Oaks saw another 67 as the low, being posted by Granite Bay GC member Gary Dunn.
At Paradise Valley, Blackhawk CC member Drew Bender led the way, carding a 2-under 70. Another qualifier at Roddy Ranch GC saw E-Club San Francisco member Ben Peters card a medalist-earning 4-under 68.
This year’s NCGA Amateur Match Play Championship will tee off August 10-14 at Spyglass Hill.
