Teammates Jerry Ledzinski and Jeff Britton made themselves too tough to catch.
The fellow Tehama Golf Club members shot an opening round 9-under 61 and followed that up with a Sunday 62 to finish at 17-under 123, easily winning the annual amateurgolf.com Monterey County Four-Ball championship at Pacific Grove Golf Links.
Ledzinski and Britton, who won the senior title at December’s amateurgolf.com Tour Championship at Quail Lodge Resort and Golf Club, were pushed in the first round by brothers Andrew Roberts and Austin Roberts’ 62. The Roberts couldn’t get any closer on Sunday, however, carding a 66 to finish as runner-ups at five strokes back.
Things were much tighter in the Senior Four-Ball championship as Brentwood’s Terry Foreman and Patterson’s Mark Hill shot 9-under 131 (65-66) to win by one over the tandems of Rob Adolph/Ken Noonan and George Kelley/Pete Wlodkowski.
Kelley and Wlodkowski, founder of amateurgolf.com, led after the first round with a 63. The duo’s pace slowed in tougher weather conditions on Sunday, however, as they carded a 69 to open the door for Foreman and Hill.
Adolph, out of Fresno, and Noonan, who resides in Pacific Grove, shot 67-65 to claim a share of second place.
In the Net championship, Turlock’s Charles Balisha and Escalon’s Brandon Murphy shot 128 (62-66) to win the title by one over Turlock’s Marc Sanders and Tom Silva.
