Tanner Hughes of Livermore came from behind to win the annual AmateurGolf.com Christmas Classic held at par-72 Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey.
Hughes fired a second round 4-under 68 to come from two back, finishing at 5-under 139 to defeat runner-up Riley Elmes of Oregon by two strokes. Hughes had rounds of 71-68, while Elmes shot 71-70.
Local Joey Russo of Monterey, who led after a first round 69, slipped into a tie for fourth following a 76.
Clayton Madey, also from Oregon, placed third at 144 following identical rounds of 72. Sebastian Crampton of Pebble Beach, who plays at Cal, had the turnaround of the weekend, going from an opening 81 to 67 to finish in 14th place.
In the Senior Championship, both Dale Bouguennec and Casey Boyns finished regulation tied at 2-over 146 following final rounds of 72 and 72, respectively. Boyns, who founded the event, won the title in a sudden-death playoff.
Scott Anderson, who led after an opening 73, placed third in the Senior Championship at 149.
