San Jose’s Justin Suh continued to roll.
Suh, who recently won the CIF State Boys’ Golf Individual title and the Santa Clara County Championship, earned a spot in the upcoming U.S Junior Amateur by carding a medalist-earning 5-under 135 in a 36-hole qualifier held Monday at Stanford Golf Course.
Suh, the 2013 Junior Tour of Northern California Player of the Year, carded rounds of 69 and 66. During his second round 66 he’d post a front-nine 31 with five birdies and a bogey. On his back-nine, Suh carded all pars.
Joshua McCarthy of Danville, who currently holds the No.1 spot in this year’s JTNC points standings race, also advanced, shooting 136 (67-69) to finish alone in second place.
Others earning automatic spots in the championship were Daniel Connolly of San Francisco (69-72–141) and Ryan Han of Hollister (71-71–142).
This year’s U.S. Junior Amateur will tee off July 21-26 at Carlton Woods Golf Club in The Woodlands, Texas.
