Diablo Hills Golf Club got the victory, but it didn’t come easy.
Diablo Hills GC, which entered the final round in the lead, fell back with a 14-under 130 Friday at par-72 Del Monte Golf Course that allowed Hiddenbrooke Country Club, which shot a 20-under, to forge a tie after regulation.
In the sudden death playoff, Diablo Hills got the win with a net six on the second extra hole (No.2).

Both Diablo Hills GC and Hiddenbrooke CC advanced to this year’s NCGA Zone Championship, slated for August 25-26 at Poppy Hills Golf Course and Spyglass Hill.
The Diablo Hills squad, comprised of David Williams, Rafael Guardado, Robert Cooper and Brian Granger, had three eagles and 11 birdies with no bogeys in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team. In the first round, Diablo Hills posted nine eagles, five birdies and two bogeys.
Hiddenbrooke CC, which had opened with a 16-under 124 at Carmel Valley Ranch on Thursday, charged up the leaderboard in the second round with a 20-under 124 that included seven eagles and five birdies.
The Hiddenbrooke squad, made up of John Clauzel, Arnel Gonzales, Nitin Jain and Chris Patton, had entered the day six strokes behind Diablo Hills.
Coming in at 34-under 250, in a tie for third, were the Mira Vista Golf and Country Club and Oakhurst Country Club squads.
Mira Vista, comprised of Scott Fong, Glenn Taylor, Sam Chang and Tom Christophe, had a 125 with seven eagles and five birdies.

Oakhurst CC, comprised of Peter L’amoreaux, John Machusic, Larry Sheppard and Richard Rhoads, shot a day-low 24-under 120 that featured eight eagles and seven birdies.
Shadow Lakes Golf Club finished alone in fifth at 251.

Diablo Hills Golf Club is in the lead following Monday’s first round of the NCGA Northeast Bay Zone Championship.
Diablo Hills GC, made up of teammates David Williams, Rafeal Guardado, Robert Cooper and Brian Granger, jumped to the top spot of the leaderboard with a 22-under 118 at par-70 Carmel Valley Ranch.
The Diablo Hills GC squad made its charge with nine eagles and five birdies. The team would open with eagles on its first six holes. The only thing slowing down Diablo Hills GC was bogeys on No.9 and No.11
Just a stroke behind Diablo Hills at 119 is Rancho Solano Golf Club, who came in at 21-under 119.
Rancho Solano GC, comprised of teammates Mark Bentley, Gustavo Ron, Jack Dominguez and Ralph Moses, had seven eagles, six birdies and a bogey. They’d ring up three straight eagles on holes No.4 through No.6.
In third place, four strokes back at 122, is Richmond Country Club. The Richmond CC squad, made up of Mark Kaplan, David Stumbos, David Liggett and Dick Parmalee, carded eight eagles and two birdies but slowed itself down with three bogeys.
For teams–Mare Island Golf Club, Walnut Creek Golf Club at Boundary Oak, Chardonnay Golf Club and Hiddenbrooke Country Club–are tied for fourth at 124, just six shots behind the leaders.
Friday’s second round will be held at par-72 Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey.
The two low teams will advance to this year’s NCGA Zone Championship, slated for August 25-26 at Poppy Hills Golf Course and Spyglass Hill.
