Spots in the upcoming NCGA Net Amateur Championship were on the line as qualifying took place at 11 different NorCal sites on Thursday.
In a qualifier at Ancil Hoffman, Neal Webb of Jack Tone Golf Club led the way, posting a medalist-earning 64. Overall, there were 16 spots available in the qualifier at Ancil Hoffman.
At Bidwell Park GC, a pair of players–Vint Stevenson of Churn Creek GC and Kyler Puckett of Wilcox Oaks GC–shared low honors, with each coming in at 66.
Over at Laguna Seca Golf Ranch in Monterey, Jeff Allen of Monterey Pines GC led the field with a medalist-earning 66, while Robert Rogers of Hunter Ranch GC was second at 67.
At Paradise Valley GC, three players finished on top with identical scores of 67–Gary Kerwood, Dale Wong and Dan Laskoski.
There were two qualifiers at Poppy Ridge, where players split rounds between the Chardonnay, Zinfandel and Merlot Courses. In the qualifer on the Chardonnay/Zinfandel courses, John Lavelle of Richmond was the low man with a 64. In the qualifier on the Zinfandel/Merlot courses, Randall Sellend, who plays out of Legends West GC Diablo Grande, was medalist with a 65.
At San Geronimo GC, James Pogue of Benbow GC paved the way, carding an impressive 63, while at Shadow Lakes GC it was Blue Rock Springs GC member John Ford leading the charge with a 65.
The Shoreline GL qualifier saw a pair of players finish as co-medalists, as both Michael Jeng of Saratoga and Russell Martin of Fremont came in with identical 69’s.
The Sunnyside CC qualifer had Rollie Gibson lead the way with a 63, while the qualifier at Teal Bend GC saw Stephen Sousa of Healdsburg GC post a medalist-earning 66.
This year’s NCGA Net Amateur Championship will tee off October 13-14 at the new Poppy Hills.
