Teams looked to earn berths into the upcoming NCGA Associate Club Championship as Sectional qualifying was held at Poppy Ridge Golf Course on Thursday.
Four teams advanced from three different flights, with players competing on 18-hole combinations of Poppy Ridge’s par-36 Merlot, Chardonnay and Zinfandel courses.
In the Chardonnay/Zinfandel flight, Facility Architects & R.E. GC led the way with a medalist earning 24-under 120. The team is made up of Paul Rosser, Kent Moddelmog, Michael Kading and Robert Ziegler.
Also moving on in the Chardonnay/Zinfandel flight were Bay Area Pinseekers GC (125), Northgate GC (125) and Campbell GC (125).
In the Merlot/Chardonnay flight, NAS GA, made up of Kyle Farris, Donna Hanson, Bart Vanvolkinburg and David Tamura, were medalist with a score of 27-under 117.
The other three squads moving on in the Merlot/Chardonnay flight were Sacramento Chinese GC (121), Hp Roseville (122) and San Jose MAGA (122).
In the Zinfandel/Merlot flight, both Golden Bay GC and Dragons GC finished as co-medalists with scores of 23-under 121.
Golden Bay GC is made up of Donald Anderson, Clark Jordan, Bob Chimienti and Butch Harrison. Dragons GC is comprised of Chris Chong, Jim Hwang, Chih-Ping Liu and Jonathan Chiu.
The other two teams advancing in the Zinfandel/Merlot flight were NorCal Left Handers GC (126) and Fairways and Greens GC (126).
This year’s Associate Club Championship will be held August 25-26 at Spyglass Hill and Poppy Hills.
